This week I'm sharing a very simple project using Eileen Hull's Treasure Box Die.
I die cut and put together the Treasure Box out of Matboard and created a hinge using my favourite bookbinding tape from CoolKatz Craft. This is very strong and you can decorate over it withpaper, paint etc.
Once the box was thoroughly dry I added small pieces of rice paper to completely cover the outside. The silk fibres in the Cadence rice paper give a wonderful texture, as do the torn edges. Again I set the box aside to dry completely.
I chose to go over the box in some area's with Ivory Lustre Wax followed by a light rub of Charcoal Lustre Wax around all of the edges.
The texture of the rice paper pickes up the beautiful sheen of the Lustre Wax really well.
I added a couple of resin pieces from my collection. The florals across the lid and also a key hole on the front of the box.
I stippled the Charcoal Lustre Wax all over both of the resin pieces, and also a little of the Ivory Luster Wax.
For an extra shine I then decided to add even more of the Lustre Wax, this time I reached for the Silver. This gives a high shine and brings the texture on the Treasure Box to life. It almost looks like a vintage silver box from many moons ago.....
I also love that some of the pattern from the rice paper is still visable, with peach roses peeking through.
