Open Your Heart

February is the month of love for us all here at IndigoBlu and I just love this sentiment by Maya Angelou part of the new Mindfulness stamp set. The beautiful Butterfly stamp is also part of the set, and we all know Butterflies are a sign of new beginnings and love.

I started by trimming a piece of Perfect White Stamping card down to a 7 1/2" square. I stamped out the sentiment in Black Versafine before matting it onto a piece of 7 3/4" black card to create a frame, and adding it on to my 8" card base.

My plan was to use Butterflies stamped out in FlitterGlu and Chariot of Fire Megaflakes used over the top. But that all changed when I was having a play with the Luscious Powders on a piece of Black Stamping card. I dropped the stamp a couple of times, but that really didn't matter as I was cutting the Butterflies out anyway. I love testing out all the possible colour combinations of the powders.

I splattered some of the diluted Luscious carefully on to my card base, before planning where I would place my now fussy cut Butterflies.

The splatters give a gentle sheen to the card, and a subtle background for the Butterflies to sit on.

Hope you are enjoying using the new powders, don't forget to share your makes with us over at the IndigoBlu Facebook page, we love to see your projects.

Have Fun

Kaisercraft Hanami Garden Collection February 2017

Another one of the stunning new February releases from Kaisercraft, this one is called Hanami Garden, and I have to say it's another beautiful collection. The Jones Crafts stand will look amazing at the Stitches Trade show with all these fabulous papers on display.

I love the mixture of red, pinks and black that have been used, it works beautifully.

The foiling and speciallity papers are just gorgeous.

Just look at the shine on that foil!

This is such a great collection, and would cover any occasion for both male and female.

Well maybe the parasols are a little more for the Ladies.

Again there are great sentiments, collectables and stamp sets to accompany the new collections.

Check back next month as I share a few of the new March releases ;)

Craft Stamper February Challenge - Take A Stamp

It's the start of a new challenge over at the Craft Stamper Blog where we would love to see your projects that have stamping included on them.

We have a fabulous prize up for grabs as well as a chance to be featured in the magazine it's self, how cool is that!

There is a £25 gift voucher for the winner to spend on stash from Seven Hills Crafts

I've been working on a page for one of my journals. I started with a piece of white card and added a layer of GeeSsoGood, before layering up lots of different sprays, inks and watercolours.

I used some paper that's been in my scrap box forever to cut out the hearts freehand, and glued them into place. Once they were dry I water coloured around the edges to create shadows. White dots were added with a white Posca pen, and lots of splatters using some black watercolour.

Next I added some random stamping using two of my favourite stamps from Kaisercraft, the Stains and the Honeycomb, with Stone Gray Stazon ink. To finish off I added some words from Tim Holtz Chit Chat stickers, created a shadow around their edges, and splattered a little paint on them to get rid of the clean white and blend them into the page.

I love these little stickers they are so useful.

Follow the link above to check out the fantastic projects from the rest of the Design Team and get creating!

Please do read the instructions carefully before linking you project, sadly too many people don't and their artwork can't be judged.

Have fun.

Kaisercraft February 2017 Island Escape Collection

How beautiful is this new collection from Kaisercraft. It's called Island Escape and it's one of the February 2017 releases. I've been making samples with lots of the gorgeous new collections for Jones Crafts ready for the Stitches Trade show taking place at the NEC.

The sandy beach papers are just stunning, they look like you could just dip your toes into that warm water!

The Seahorse is one of my favourite Kaisercraft dies, they cut so beautifully and don't stick!

I love a little fussy cutting and these flowers make the perfect embellishments.

The speciality papers take the ink really well, with the embossing creating a great resist for ink.

I just love all the tropical designs, bright flowers and beautiful patterns.

And as always Kaisercraft have such great sentiments in their collections.

I'll be sharing another of the new collections on Saturday.

Be My Valentine.........For Frilly and Funkie

I was so very excited when the team over at the Frilly and Funkie Blog chose my shabby winter junk journal as their winner just before Christmas. And it's great to be invited back as a Guest Designer for the current Be My Valentine challenge.

I've used papers from Kaisercrafts Cottage Rose collection, which was one of the releases from spring last year. The papers are so pretty with lots of gorgeous shabby greens, dove gray and pinks, perfect for Valentines Day! I created lots of tiered layers with distressed edges to sit the beautiful paper doily on top of, before adding lots of fussy cut flowers from one of the sheets along with a tag.

To finish off I added iridescent sequins, pale gold 3D gel drops, seam binding dyed to co-ordinate and one of the gorgeous bling hearts, well it is Valentines after all.

Have a great day and don't forget to check out the new challenge Be My Valentine over at the Frilly and Funky Blog.
