Lattice Card Caddy Book

https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2024/06/lattice-card-caddy-book.html
This was such an easy and fun journal to create using Eileen's Card Caddy Die as the base for the journal.
https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2024/06/lattice-card-caddy-book.html
I stencilled texture paste though the lattice stencil and once it was dry a painted the entire cover with white gesso. Once dry I added colour using a couple of Inktense Blocks by lightly rubbing over the texture paste in different directions, spritzing with water and letting dry before repeating that process until the colour built up.

I die cut the flowers and leaves from a light weight water colour card, then added colour from the same two Inktense Blocks.

Once they were completely dry I then doodled over the top of the flowers and leaves with a Black Micron pen.

I added Gold Pen around all of the edges of the journal, the book plate and lightly across the raised texture of the latticework.

I found a die cut Book Plate left over from another project which was perfect for the cover of the journal.

I chose to add more flowers to the spine of the journal as thats the part you see the most of once it's on a shelf.

The inside covers are lined with a piece of watercolour paper that I used to clean my stencils on, I added a couple of leaves over the tops with ink, this gives a look of hand made paper. The block inside the journal is hand stitched 120gsm paper which is great for holding ink and doodling on.

Eileen Hull Designs - September is Cards Month

https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2022/09/eileen-hull-designs-september-is-cards.html

During the month of September the Eileen Hull Teams have been sharing their card making projects with everyone, you can check out lots of inspiration over at Eileen's site, via the link below.

https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2022/09/eileen-hull-designs-september-is-cards.html

Eileen's Card Caddy Die is a fabulous shape for a card shape, and if you fold your card in half and keep the folded edge inside of the cut line, the hard work is all done for you.

https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2022/09/eileen-hull-designs-september-is-cards.html

I also used the die to cut out two layers of paper to cover the card fronts with. One opening right to left, and one opening left to right. This will all come clear in a minute.

https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2022/09/eileen-hull-designs-september-is-cards.html

The cards will overlap as above to create a 5 1/4" by 6" gatefold.

https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2022/09/eileen-hull-designs-september-is-cards.html

I added a piece of co-ordinating card on the inside, so it made the most of the gorgeous shaped edge that will overlap.

Next I used the leaf stamp from Eileen's Wonderful World of Flowers stamp set, which was released through Maker Forte. I wanted to create a soft background on the Label, which is also from the Card Caddy Die. I used Wild Honey Distress Ink for both stamping and adding colour around the edges.

https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2022/09/eileen-hull-designs-september-is-cards.html

I knew the word stamp would be a little too large for the label, so I masked off the top part and stamped using Potting Soil Archival Ink from Wendy Vecchi. I also added a little more around the edge of the label to increase the depth of the shading. I chose this colour over black because I wanted a softer look.

And on the inside I added the whole of the word stamp. One of my favourite songs and it was also played at my Wedding, many years ago.

I don't often make cards these days, but what a quick and easy way of creating something a little different rather than a shop bought one.

A Male Inspired Leather Journal using Eileen Hull's Card Caddy Die

https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2022/08/leather-journal-using-eileen-hulls-card.html

Yet another great Die from Eileen Hull........

https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2022/08/leather-journal-using-eileen-hulls-card.html

Designed to be used as a Card Caddy, this Die has multiple uses, including of course...........

https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2022/08/leather-journal-using-eileen-hulls-card.html

Well it had to be done, yes what a fabulous shape for a journal. And of course I don't need an excuse to delve into my Leather stash. And what a great gift idea for the men in your life.

https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2022/08/leather-journal-using-eileen-hulls-card.html

The side panel for the Card Caddy makes the perfect pen holder. I puched the leather and handstitched the pieces together using a strong waxed linen thread.

https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2022/08/leather-journal-using-eileen-hulls-card.html

The stitches show on the inside, but because of the contrast of colour, I like the decoration it adds.

https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2022/08/leather-journal-using-eileen-hulls-card.html

I added an extra strip of leather to the inside of the spine for extra strength. And punched enough holes to hold three signatures. I didn't stitch my signatures, they are just cut to size and folded around the thread.

https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2022/08/leather-journal-using-eileen-hulls-card.html

The signatures are held in place with waxed linen thread, as it was much neater than the elastic. Have you noticed the tag on the band? It's double sided, so on one side it's black leather and on the other it's a gorgeous buttery soft tan leather. Hence I chose to use a tan coloured wax thread to coordinate everything together.

https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2022/08/leather-journal-using-eileen-hulls-card.html

And check out the gorgeous embossing from Eileen's new 3D Woven Leather Folder, it was just perfect for this journal. And no excuses for not having a pencil/pen with my journal again.

Hope you've enjoyed having a closer look at my project, and pop over to have a look at all the other fabulous projects my team mates have created, they really are such a talented bunch.

And if you like the papers I've used you can find them over in my Etsy shop A Printers Daughter via the link at the top right hand side of this page.

Happy Crafting.
