Eileen Hull Chapter 4 Release Party

 

 

 

Chapter 4 is finally here! Each release is so exciting and it never gets old…Here's what Eileen has to say about it.

The Geometric Box is a different kind of design for me. I love the ease of assembly, the unique shape and and the possibility of expanding the box into larger containers! This is a ScoreBoards die so it may be cut from sturdy materials like matboard, chipboard, metal, leather and fabric. The finished box measures 4” h x 3” w x 4” d… or so… a fun feature of this die is that it adapts to how you shape it. You’ll see Watch my livestream videos to show how to expand the possibilities of this die.

Use the Geometric Box for storage- for pencils, silverware, flowers, or tools. The box may also be used as a gift container- imagine adding teabags, a pretty silver spoon and a bow as a get well gift!

The Sunflower is a Bigz L steel rule die- designed to cut and score a myriad of materials. The Sunflower is BIG- it measures about 4" across and comes with a leaf, three sizes of petals and a flower center! Stack layers of petals to make a traditional sunflower, or change colors and create a pink coneflower. The basic shape is there for you to create your own flowers! Make a stem for the flower using wire and your Twist and Style Tool. The coordinating Geometric Box die works perfectly as a vase.

I love the whimsical patterns of vintage cutlery and that's why I created this Silverware 3D embossing folder! The design is so detailed you can actually see a tiny bride and groom on the handle of a cake server.

This folder is perfect for creating seating charts, menus, invitations, cards and recipe books. You would be surprised at the many materials you can emboss- metal, paper, cardboard, Sizzix texture roll and more. Once you have embossed the image, rub a light coat of a metallic Luster Wax over the top of the design and you have an amazing result!

So cool I love these new dies. It's been a little crazy round here this last few weeks, and I had to take a little time out after a fall, so I'm yet to play with the Geometric Box Die, and I can't wait! 

So here's what I have created so far using the new dies..........

 

A recipe book to jot down any Autumn.Winter recipes in. It has Book Rings holding it together so i can add in more pages, or coupons.

And of course a Mini Wreath for my kitchen, I love the pop of colour against the dark units and brick chimney wall. And the Sizzix Card Stock has the perfect range of colours for every season, not just Autumn.

Using Leftovers for Eileen Hull Inspiration

 

Guilty as charged I hoard left-over pieces from die cutting..................well you never know when they will come in handy, do you?

So this month the teams are using up all the bits and bobs (well some of the bits and bobs anyway) of left-overs we have on our desks.

I have felt flowers and leaves from a project I created last year, or was it the year before.....and also whenever I receive a new die from Eileen I always cut it out in white cardstock, so there are a fair few of those about too.

So I set about making two journal pockets and two decorative toppers ready for a new journal. I feel there will be a white one coming up.

Isn't it amazing what you can create with no plan in mind and a pile of left-over die cuts. Don't forget to pop over to Eileen's Page where you can check out what everyones else has been creating, there are some fabulous projects there.

Eileen Hull Inspiration for Fabric, Lace, Fibres and Yarns

 

This month the Eileen Hull Teams are sharing inspiration and tips on how to incorporate Fabric, Lace, Yarns and Fibres etc into your projects. I think we all have boxes of scrap pieces that we just can't throw away because they might be small, but they are just beautiful, right!

I've created a Junk Journal using Eileen's Large Journal Die, it's just the perfect size as it's an A4 Bigz Die, so you can cut lots of different substrates. The papers are the Coral Vintage Artistry from 49&Market, and just stunning. I didn;t realise when I chose the paper for the spine that I actually know where that address is........how cool is that. It's in Chester which isn't that far away from where I live.

 

 I used cotton scrim folded in half, sprayed it with starch and ran it carefully through using the Button Embossing Folder. Then I set it aside to dry naturally. You can just about see the texture in the background. I used more scrim on the spine of the journal for extra strength, and a selection of gorgeous Sari Silks to create a Tassel.I left the holes in the spine as this allowed me to attatch the Tassel and also a Metal Embellishment with ease.

New Junk Journal Created with Eileen Hull's New Large Journal Die

 

Well o my goodness we are in October the leaves are changing colour rapidly and the temperature is starting to drop.

I'm keeping warm in my workroom creating new journals using Eileen Hull's new Large Journal Die. It's an A4 Bigz Die so you will need a larger cutting machine for this one. I use my trusty Big Shot Plus for mine.

There are so many possibilities of substrates to use, as the Bigz Dies cut through thicker materials like Matboard, Leather and thick fabrics.

Eileen Hull Challenge - Inspired by Nature using a Non Journal Die

I really enjoyed making my Gardeners Journal and loved the challenge of creating a Nature themed journal from a non journal die.

I used a mixture of Eileens new stamp sets and a selection of paper downloaded from various companies, and odd sheets left over from previous journals.

 I created my journal using Eileen's Gift Box Die, I love the scalloped lid and it makes such a pretty, decorative edge for the book cover.

This is the die used to create the Gift Box as intended. And below are the die cut pieces needed to create a mini journal.

First of all I cut out all of the pices I needed, trimmed the edges, so I had a scored line on one side only and also cut out a 1" strip the height of the journal.

I butted up the two scored sides together and adhered the 1" strip over the top of them for support.

Next I layered up the scalloped edges and glued them to the outer edge of the front and back cover.

To strengthen the spine even more I then glued a piece of muslin the entire way around and left it to dry completely before adding decoration to the cover.

Snowman Glasses Holder - Eileen Hull Inspiration Team

 How cute are these snowmen that are created using Eileen Hull's new Snowman Die.

The die set includes a scored piece that creates a basket when fixed between the two snowman.

 But I found that if you fold all of the scored lines in towards the centre, you create a rectangular box, with a slot in the top. Now if you are anything like me..................I'm always loosing my reading glasses, so these cute little guys are now looking after them for me.

 I cut everything out of cardstock including the base, as it was too bulky with Matboard. I inked around the edges of the snowmen, dressed them and doodled with a white Gelly Roll.

To make the snowmen a little more sturdy I cut two more out of Matboard and glued them to the back of the dressed snowmen before adding them to the base.

Eileen Hull New Release Scalloped Box

Oooooo do I love this new die designed by Eileen Hull it has so many possibilities of use.

I thought I'd make a gift box to contain chocolates, it would make a lovely Easter gift, and if you decant a box of chocolates, thee are bound to be a few leftovers............just saying......win, win.

I cut the box from Sizzix Mountboard, glues it together and added texture paste through a stencil.  Once dry I added some wooden birds and resin flowers from my stash. I filled in the gaps and added extra texture with Artsy Stones.

After making sure everything was completely dry, I gave he entire project a couple of coats of white gesso, drying in-between. before adding the beautiful Cadence Hybrid Acrylic paints randomly in Faded Pink and Plum. Yes this year I'm pushing myself to try new colours :)

Once the pink shades were completely dry, I knocked them back a little by dry brushing white gesso over them.

Again making sure everything was totally dry I added highlights using the stunning Antique Silver Gilding paint, dried the project completely and then added a few more highlights, this time in the beautiful Antique Gold Gilding paint. Boy this paint has an amazing sheen!

I finished off by adding a wash of the Antique Gold Gilding paint to the inside.

And now it's ready for a layer of tissue paper and a handful of favourite chocolates to gift. And when the chocolates are eaten, the recipient has a beautiful trinket box to keep.

Eileen Hull's Holiday Inspiration

I didn't have anything suitable for dressing a Holiday table, or so I thought..... I then remembered the Spring Leaves Die - Perfect!

I set about die cutting from a selection of autumnal coloured felt. Such a quick process and the die will easily cut through a couple of layers of felt at a time.

I cut out a circle of cream felt and adhered a a selection of leaves around the underside of the edge, perfect to use as a coaster, or hold that important bottle of Fizz for the celebrations.

My original plan was to machine sew the leaves onto a base of dissoluble backing, but as I couldn't find it, sod's law! I decided to hand stitch instead, using a neutral thread and a running stitch to create a vein. The leaves are held together with a small stitch underneath. I might even make it a little bigger for next year.

Eileen Hull Designs Pocket Notebook Blog Hop!

Hi everyone and welcome. Today is the official launch day for Eileen Hull's latest die - the Pocket Notebook - and to celebrate a whole heap of extremely talented creatives have put their own spin on it for a very special Release Party!!! Eileen’s Inspiration and Education teams have combined to show us their amazing Pocket Notebook ideas. Please follow the Blog Hop to see all of the fabulous projects, techniques and videos (more details at the end of this post).

 That's just a taste of what can be created with this new die, now here's what the Pocket Notebook looks like - you get all of the pieces you need to make an entire book- the cover, pages, latch and pen loop! The Pocket Notebook measures 6 3/4” x 4 1/2” with a spine that can adjust from of 3/8” to almost 2”! String it with elastic, hemp, ribbon or twine, or even bind it. So many option for this fun die!

 I decided to create a Christmas themed Notebook using some of the Kaisercraft Frosted Collection.

 I love this die as Eileen has done all the measuring for you, including the inserts! I lined four sheets folded paper up along the line of the book cover, so the signatures are all the same size.

 Then using a waxed linen thread I did a basic stitch to hold the pages together.

 I find it easier to use household pegs to keep the pages together as I stitch them

 After cutting the covers from Matt Board, adhering them together, I cover them with a gorgeous paper with Santa on.I strung all of holes available on the die with elastic, as I needed space for five signatures.

 I used lace and some of the coordinating Collectables to decorate the front cover.

 And of course I don't need an excuse for a little bling, and just look at the shine on the Golden Rod Molten Dimensions Powder.

 I carefully added the powders using the Clear Ink from Eileen's Colorbox Blends2 collection.

 Unfortunately as this was an afterthought, when I heated the powders the glue under the paper moved slightly, and there are a few wrinkles (bit like me) but I quite like that, as it makes the Notebook a little shabby.

 I finished off by adding a little White Gold Gilding Wax from Cadence.
