Embossing with Eileen Hull Designs Again....

I cut out another of the Mini Books this time from the Mint Julip colour of Sizzix Surfacez. It's such a pretty and clean colour but this time I wanted it to look a little aged and grungy. So after embossing the book cover with the Floral Damask folder I used Inktense blocks in two shades all over the cover. I spritzed it with water and let dry completely. This looks a little too grungy at this point but trust the process

I grabbed my Gold Lustre Wax and after making sure that my cover was fully dry I went to town adding the gorgeous wax around the edges of the cover and highlighting some of the 3D embossing.

I love the way the cover shines where the wax has adhered it's so pretty and it's given it the vintage look I was trying to acheive.

I also added a little wax around the Book Plate being careful not to get any in the centre where I will be stamping, as that would create a resist for the ink. So now I have two Mini Book covers ready to add into, maybe I should create a third and make a set..................

Embossing with Eileen Hull Designs

This month with Eileen Hull Designs we are Embossing. I grabbed my Floral Damask 3D Embossing Folder as it;s one of my favourites. I cut out the Mini Book in Sizzix Surfaces Rose Gold and then embossed. With this cover i wanted the Deboss on the outside of the cover as I had an idea for decorating it with my Sakura Glaze Gelly Rolls.

The Deboss gives you the perfect little well to flood with the Glaze pens.
And you can blend the colours together to create blends.
I used a light and dark blue along with a pale green with the light blue added to the veins of the leaves.
I carefully worked my way across the journal cover, the Glaze pens take wuite a while to dry and I didn't want to lean on them.
I decided in the end not to add the handle to the spine as it would hide the large flower, which I think is just gorgeous.
The pens pick up the metallic sheen from underneath which is a little difficult to show on camera.
I really love how the cover turned out and it was fun to play with my Glaze pens again, it's been a while since they were last out.
It kind of reminds me of Cloisonnet.
Now I have to be patient and make sure it is completely dry before I decorate the inside.

Happy Crafting.

My Favourite Three Eileen Hull Projects

It's always a tough decision choosing just three of my favourite projects using Eileen Hulls dies. This year has again seen some fabulous new releases along with a few re-releases of some great classics.

I had to choose the Beautiful Moments mini journal as I love the shape of it, the Notebook using the lattice stencils and florals turned out better than I could have imagined and I love the colour. My final choice would have to be the Drawer as it makes the perfect sized gift box.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Loved Mini Book

https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2024/04/loved-mini-book.html
I loved the Mini Book I shared previously and it was so simple to create using Eileen Hull's Mini Book Die. That I started another one straight away! I cut out the full journal in matboard then ran my two chosen patterned sheets of paper for my outer and inside covers through. I trimmed the spine of both covers, taking the inner one ever so slightly inside of the crease line so it didn't create any bulk.

I cut out a selection of papers using Eileen's Faux Postage Dies to use as embellishments alonf with the 49&Market Butterflies and Flowers.

I covered the outer spine in cheesecloth and added the outer covers back and front. Then it was just a case of decorating, my favourite part!

The inner pages are concertinered with lots of embellishments. This was created with a 12" x 3 1/2" strip of patterned paper, scored at every 1 1/2".

I glued a long strip of Sari Ribbon to the inner right hand cover and adhered the concertinered book over the top. The ribbon comes out of the book and one side wraps around the front of the cover and back round to meet the other side of it's self. This then hold the book closed with a bow.

I'll leave you now with lots of photo's to have a closer look.

Eileen Hull New Releases with Sizzix - The Mini Book

https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2024/03/eileen-hull-new-releases-with-sizzix.html
Time for a closer look at the Mini Book Die this week. This die is fantastic as you can create a Mini Book with one pass through your die cutting machine, it's so simple.
https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2024/03/eileen-hull-new-releases-with-sizzix.html
I covered a piece of Matboard with a piece of 49&Market paper and cut out the journal.
https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2024/03/eileen-hull-new-releases-with-sizzix.html
I spotted the word "Believe" and roughly cut it out from the paper. Then I carefully positioned it on the die to cut out the strip for the spine with the word showing prominently.
https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2024/03/eileen-hull-new-releases-with-sizzix.html
The inner covers are stamped using one of Eileens flower stamps from the Wonderful World of Flowers set using Evergreen Bough Distress Ink before brushing the ink over the top to blend the colours out.
https://elizabethr-thecraftyrobin.blogspot.com/2024/03/eileen-hull-new-releases-with-sizzix.html
The pages were cut by folding the papers in half and carefully placing them on the die so the spine didn't get cut through. The pages were then hand stitched into a signature and glued into the spine of the book. Of course I had to include a little musline for a shabby edge. The sentiment on the front of the journal is from the 49&Market paper pack, and fitted perfectly on the die cut label.
